Older TYA patients often brought girlfriends or boyfriends along to keep them company. This couple, sometimes accompanied by the patient's mum as well, were often in at the same time as me.
Being in all day, as I usually was, I came to recognise the faces of other regular patients. Though I hardly spoke to any of them, I felt a sort of fondness for them; I often got a sense of their characters from watching them, and their interactions with their family, friends, and the nursing staff. We were all on the journey together, and I often wonder how they're doing now I don't see them any more.
