Back in 2019, every other chemo cycle was a five-day treatment. I lived over an hour away, so the hospital put mum and I up in a nearby hotel for the duration, while dad stayed with his brother. To get to London, we took two trains - an overground, then a tube. We'd pack up our gear on Tuesday night, then pile onto the train on Wednesday morning with bags full of clothes, medication and all my cancer paraphernalia.
It must have looked to other people like we were going on holiday... far from it!
