When I was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in 2019, I was scheduled to have fourteen cycles of chemo. It took six and a half months, a few times treatments were put back because I was not well enough to have them on time - needing blood transfusions, or dealing with side effects or in one nasty case, an infection.
This was drawn during the last of my fourteen cycles. As I was turning 25 shortly I knew it would be my last week in TYA and I was a little sad. It had turned into my second home and I knew I'd miss all the amazing staff who had made my journey so much easier.
As it turned out, I did have one more cycle in TYA though. In 2020 when I had to go back into treatment, adult chemo had a long waiting list so my doctor managed to get me seen in TYA for my first cycle, as I was only a few months over the age limit. It was lovely to see everyone again. When all this pandemic is over I'll pop up to the third floor and pay them a visit again, to let them know I'm still doing well.
